The larger butterfly, a Blue Morpho, emerged from its chrysalis completely blind (note the white eyes, which are atypical of this species). As it was drying its wings the smaller butterfly (a Pointed Leafwing Memphis eurypyle) landed next to it. This particular piece is more painting than photo. Many thanks to the staff at Magic Wings Butterfly Museum for their help as I hung around with my cameras hoping to capture their beautiful butterflies. Stay tuned for more in this butterfly series.
